Former culture minister in Jair Bolsonaro’s (PL) government, actress Regina Duarte, heard cries of order against the president as she left a musical in São Paulo tonight, according to videos posted on social media.
The actress was at the Liberdade Theater to accompany the musical Clube da Esquina Dreams Never Age, which tells the story of the musicians who founded the Clube da Esquina, including Milton Nascimento.
In the pictures, the actress appears smiling, ignoring the people around her who are shouting “Fora Bolsonaro”, “Fora Genocida” and “Fora Fascista”.
Regina smiles as she walks through the crowd and doesn’t respond to the shouts.
As she walks away, calls like “Olé Olé Hello, Lula, Lula” can also be heard.
In June 2020, Regina was fired from her post as Special Secretary for Culture.
At the time, Bolsonaro said that Regina missed her family and that the change was for her “good” out of respect for the actress’ “past” — who ended a 50year contract with TV Globo to become a secretary — and “for everything it means to all of us”. The position is currently held by Hélio Ferraz.
After her exoneration, Regina said she would accept a position at Cinemateca, but remains outside the institution.
On Monday (24th) she published a video on her networks in which she reiterated her support for the presidential candidate.
In the pictures, the actress sticks a Bolsonaro sticker on her car while smiling while looking at the camera.
Then he makes the number of candidates with his hands and shrugs his shoulders. At the end of the video, Regina claps her hands. As the soundtrack of the release, the actress chose an instrumental version of the national anthem.
