The actress and former culture minister received a standing ovation at the Teatro da Liberdade in downtown São Paulo this Saturday
Actress and former special secretary for culture of the Jair Bolsonaro (PL) government, Regina Duarte, was booed this Saturday (Oct 29, 2022) at the Teatro da Liberdade in downtown Sao Paulo. In videos posted on social networks, the actress seems to be walking around while being booed with shouts of “Fora Bolsonaro”; “From the Genocide”.
The actress attended the musical Clube da Esquina Dreams Never Age, which tells the story of the Clube da Esquina. In the video, Regina walks smiling and shows a Bolsonaro Santinho taped to the back of her phone.

Regina announced her departure from the federal government on May 20, 2020, but was formally relieved of office on June 10, 2020. In a live on Facebook, Bolsonaro said the actress “misses her family” but will take over the Cinemateca “so it can continue to contribute to Brazilian government and culture.”
In May 2020, Regina said in an interview with CNN Brasil that “torture has always existed” and that she sees no reason to “look back”, referring to the period of military dictatorship in Brazil.
