Kaley Cuoco ‘devastated’ after losing role in Knives 2 –

Kaley Cuoco opens up about a role that eluded her.

In an interview with Glamour, the Flight Attendant star revealed she was “devastated” after learning she wouldn’t land a role in Rian Johnson’s upcoming ensemble mystery Knives Out 2, which ultimately went to Kate Hudson .

“I was convinced [the part was mine]. Kate Hudson finally got it. But I was so confident that my bags were packed for Greece,” she shared. “And then I didn’t get it. I was so devastated. And I’m not [normally] devastated about rolling. I had read chemistry, I had done zooms. And I didn’t get it. I cried and I cried all night. And it went to Kate, who is amazing.”

The next day, Cuoco got a call about a script for the movie Meet Cute, in which Pete Davidson was already set to star. “They said, ‘We have an interesting script.’ And I said, ‘I don’t want to read anything. i suck Nobody wants me.’ They said, ‘You have to read this,'” she said.

Although she initially felt discouraged, after reading the script, Cuoco recalled saying, “This is the most magical little script” and one she “never would have gotten” if she snagged the Knives Out role had. “It just shows you that you are where you should be. I mean I got angry about it. And that’s when I thought, I’m on fire, I’m sure I understand that. And they said, ‘No, we’re going with Kate.’ “

Looking further back at auditioning for the role, Cuoco explained that she was never given a reason why she didn’t get it, but did previously say, “I thought I was a hot fuck: I’m going to be dating Daniel Craig be. That’s great.”

However, Cuoco said she “couldn’t be happier with the way things turned out. That’s the way it should be, and Knives is going to be great, and Kate is great. She should do it and I should do it. And maybe I’ll audition for the third time.”

In the sequel, which was filmed in Greece, Daniel Craig reprises his role as detective Benoit Blanc alongside a new cast that includes Hudson, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Dave Bautista and Janelle Monae.

The second season of Cuoco’s series The Flight Attendant debuts April 21 on HBO Max.
