In this diplomatic note, consulted by the American daily, Moscow warns that the West’s sending of “more sensitive” weapons to Ukraine would “spread fuel on the fire”. The warning comes as US President Joe Biden on Wednesday gave the green light for massive new military aid to Ukraine, with heavier equipment than previously delivered.
These new American deliveries include some of the “very effective equipment that we have already delivered to Ukraine” but also “new capabilities” including “artillery systems” and “armored personnel carriers,” the US leadership said.
“What the Russians are telling us privately is exactly what we are telling the world publicly, that the massive aid we are providing to our Ukrainian partners is proving its remarkable effectiveness,” responded a senior American official, quoted by the Washington Post .
