Newlyweds Tayla Damir and Nathan Broad look miserable as they leave the Melbourne Cup

It looks like newlyweds Tayla Damir and Nathan Broad didn’t pick a winner at Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup.

The couple, who tied the knot last month, looked miserable as they left The Birdcage after the big race and headed home.

Barely smiling, Love Island star Tayla folded her arms as she braved the freezing cold and rainy weather.

She wrapped herself in her herringbone coat as she walked the wet sidewalk, her feet no doubt sore from being in heels all day.

Her AFL star husband also didn’t appear to be in a good mood as they walked to a waiting car.

Looking stunning for the trophy, Tayla brightened the drab day in a yellow satin dress paired with gold strappy heels and a matching yellow headband.

She wore her brunette locks in curls and flaunted her flawless face with minimal makeup.

The couple tied the knot last month after a three-year whirlwind romance in the Gold Coast hinterland.

The Love Island winner, 25, stunned in a white floral dress by Oglia-Loro Couture, while the Richmond player, 29, looked sharp in a classic tuxedo by MJ Bale.

Tayla’s lace dress dragged across the floor behind her and she styled her brunette hair into a neat bun, which she covered with a long veil.

Tayla shared her gorgeous wedding photos on Instagram on Tuesday, along with the caption: “Mr and Mrs Broad -10/17/22.”

Images from the ceremony, which saw a strict no-phone policy, highlighted the lush white flowers that adorned the venue as the newlyweds shared a kiss.

Other images showed the couple, who began dating in late 2019, posing on a hilltop with the idyllic backdrop of the surrounding countryside.

Tayla also shared a blurry video of the couple with their arms crossed as they watched fireworks.

It comes after Tayla recently revealed she wants to get married before having children with Nathan, citing her “traditional” upbringing.

“I’m traditional in the sense that ideally I want to get married first, but after that let the babymaking begin,” she said in an Instagram Q&A.

The model announced her engagement to the three-time Premiership player in June and posted a video on Instagram of the moment her boyfriend proposed to her.

Footage from her home surveillance system showed Nathan surprising Tayla by getting on one knee on her porch.

Although she had a lot to look forward to, Tayla found wedding planning stressful.

In July, she said she suffered from anxiety, nosebleeds, stress rashes and exhaustion while trying to pick a venue, stick to her budget and “please everyone”.

“I’ve always prided myself on using my social media to break down stigma around mental health and to be as open and honest as possible,” she said on Instagram at the time.

“This time last week I was in a really dark place. I suffer from extreme anxiety, so the thought of trying to plan a wedding was letting people down on their wants and expectations, choosing a venue, pleasing everyone, pleasing myself without knowing what I want , and trying to budget, so overwhelming,” she added.

“At the time my fear made me so weak. I’m perfectly fine now and we’ve settled on a venue and I’m finally having fun planning a wedding that I’m so looking forward to.
