Latvia the strongest prime ministers party after the election

Denmark: Frederiksen starts polls on Friday

Denmark’s outgoing prime minister, Mette Frederiksen, was tasked with exploring options for forming a new government. The 44-year-old Social Democrat told TV2 she would start negotiations on Friday and invite all parties and representatives from Greenland and the Faroe Islands to her official residence in Marienborg, north of Copenhagen. There she will hear the wishes and priorities of all parties.

Although the left-wing camp around his Social Democrats won a slim majority in Danish parliamentary elections at the last minute, Frederiksen today presented his government’s resignation to Queen Margrethe II.

Frederiksen no longer wants to lead Denmark with a purely social-democratic minority government as he once did, but is fighting for broad government cooperation through the political center. It’s not yet clear whether this will work.
