The Houston Astros made history against the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night when Cristian Javier equalized after a dominant 5-0 win in Game 4 with a combined no-hitter World Cup 2022.

Astros vs. Phillies (PHI leads series 2-1)
Goalless for the first time
Unlike the previous two games, no team came onto the board in the first inning. Only Jordan Alvarez reached safely after the isolation.
Aaron Nola comes out of the traffic jam
The Phillies’ starting pitcher allowed two of the first three batsmen to hit base in the top portion of the second inning. With runners on the corners and an out, Nola beat Aledmys Diaz and Chas McCormick to end the inning.
Houston has gone 14 straight innings without scoring a run.
Quiet bats
We’re scoreless in Philadelphia through three innings. Nola and Astros starting pitcher Cristian Javier each hit four batters, with the former giving up two hits and the latter giving up two walks.
Additionally, Nola threw 47 pitches through the third inning while Javier threw 50 pitches.
Nola gets through another traffic jam
The Astros had runners in first and second at the head of fourth, after two two-off singles. Nola then prompted a first-pitch groundout from Diaz to end the inning.
Javier acts
Javier hit the side at the end of the fourth hit and got JT Realmuto, Bryce Harper and Nick Castellanos sniffing on the third shot. The right-hander recorded seven strikeouts in four innings.
Astros force pitching change
Houston’s first three hitters reached base at the top of the fifth, resulting in manager Rob Thomson removing Nola from the game in favor of Jose Alvarado. Nola gave up seven hits while hitting four batters through four innings.
Houston breaks the ice
Alvarado caught Yordan Alvarez on the first shot he threw and went on a run to give Houston a 1-0 lead.
Astros wakes up
Next batter, Alex Bregman, cranked a two-run double into right field, giving the Astros a 3-0 lead with runners in second and third place. Kyle Tucker then hit a sacrificial fly and gave the Astros a 4-0 lead.
You get another run
The Astros pour it in in the fifth when Yuli Gurriel hit a single to left field for Houston’s fifth run of the inning.
Javier is in a groove
The Astros right-hander batted out two more hitters in the bottom of the fifth, giving him a nine for the game. Additionally, Javier hasn’t conceded a hit in five innings.
Javier pulled through six after a no-hitter
Manager Dusty Baker removed Javier from the game after the sixth inning in favor of Bryan Abreu. Javier didn’t give up a hit in six innings and had nine total strikeouts while throwing 97 pitches.

Abreu hit the side at the end of the seventh set, causing Realmuto, Harper and Castellanos to sniff on the third shot. Houston had a combined no-hitter in seven innings.
Combined no-hitter through eight
Rafael Montero picked up where Abreu left off and scored a 1-2-3 finish in the round of 16. The Astros have gone eight innings without a hit after posting 17 straight outs.

The Astros did it. Closer Ryan Pressly threw a relatively clean ninth inning to end the combined no-hitter.
This is only the second no-hitter in the World Series — played since 1903 — and the third overall in the MLB playoffs.
