A neighbor who filed a complaint said: “I reported the domestic violence to the police in March. We went to court in September. The judge said “keep calm” and the prosecutor said “she’s in a safety net now and everything will be fine”.
The ban on contact stipulated that the 50-year-old was not allowed to communicate or attempt to communicate in any way with the victim without his consent.
According to the neighbor, the suspect still lives at the same address as the victim.

The accused is due to appear this afternoon.
He must return to court for his bail hearing on Friday because the Crown opposes his release.
The victim is currently in stable condition but not out of danger.
