James Corden accused of stealing Noel Fielding’s joke in resurfaced tweet after telling Ricky Gervais

A day after James Corden admitted he “accidentally” told a Ricky Gervais joke during his “Late Late Show” monologue, the joke-stealing allegation from five years earlier has resurfaced.

On Monday, the host shared a joke in his monologue about how Twitter wasn’t Elon Musk’s claimed vision of a town square because those people wouldn’t see a flyer about guitar lessons and start slamming guitar lessons like they might on social media.

The joke was almost verbatim one Gervais told in his 2018 Netflix stand-up special Humanity — right down to the ins and outs of guitar lessons.

Gervais noted the similarities in a tweet, and Corden later admitted on Twitter, “I accidentally told a brilliant joke by Ricky Gervais on the show last night, apparently not knowing it came from him.”

A 2017 tweet resurfaced Tuesday in which The Mighty Boosh star Noel Fielding accused Corden of stealing a stand-up part he did at the 2010 comedy festival Just for Laughs .

During his stand-up routine, Fielding had joked that he had once been mugged and decided the best way to stop the mugger was to whisper “Oi, mate,” prompting the criminal to put his knife away and to ask, “What is this? “

In 2017, during an interview with “Late Late Show,” Corden said he felt the “best way to avoid getting mugged” is to whisper to them, “You’ll never believe what happened.” and the robber will put down his gun and leave, “What?”

At the time, Fielding tweeted, “I think this is my stuff,” after a Twitter user wrote that Corden “totally stole the whisper thing” from Fielding.

Gervais later deleted his tweet shadowing Corden over the guitar lesson joke, telling a fan who asked him if Corden asked permission for the joke that he speculated “one of the writers made it up for him.” I doubt he would knowingly copy word for word such a famous stand-up routine.”

JAMES ORDEN BREAKS SILENCE TO NURSERY SCHOOLS ABOUT ABUSE OF BEHAVIOR AT NEW YORK RESTAURANT: ‘IT WAS DISGrace’

He added that he deleted his original tweet because he “started to feel sorry for” Corden.

All of this comes as Corden’s friendly manners were challenged by a New York restaurant owner who accused him of abusing his staff last month.

Corden later admitted on his show that he made a “rude” remark to the restaurant staff after they kept sending out food his wife is allergic to, but the restaurateur claimed his apology was “made up and wrong” and blamed him for telling a “massive lie” AGAIN.”
