Alessandra Negrini, 52, showed a Tshirt that read “Democracy” on Globo TV yesterday.
The act was seen on social media as a ‘needle’ in demonstrations by Jair Boslonaro (PL) supporters blocking roads and streets across the country in protest at the outcome of the election that won Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) .
The shirt worn by the actress is a historical Corinthians shirt, as the narrator Luís Roberto mentions. It’s a piece from the Corinthian Democracy era, the club movement that lasted from 1982 to 1984 and was led by players like Socrates, Wladimir, Casagrande, BiroBiro, Zé Maria and Zenon.
The aim was to give all club members a voice in the team’s decisions, i.e. to take the opinions of all employees equally into account.
The movement was confused with the military dictatorship that lasted from 1964 to 1985. The members of the Corinthian democracy passed the “Diretas Já!” and participate in demonstrations and claim direct voting.
At one point, Sócrates stated that he would continue playing for Corinthians if Dante Oliveira’s constitutional amendment calling for direct voting in the 1984 elections was approved. The change was not approved and the ace went abroad.
It was the publicist Washington Olivetto who christened the Corinthian democracy. Besides him, other prominent figures such as Rita Lee, Juca Kfouri and Boni from TV Globo sympathized with the mobilization.
Over time, the movement in the club broke up and came to an end.
In a recent interview, Alessandra Negrini said she wasn’t satisfied with the “fame” of looking younger.
“It’s the same theme my whole life. I appreciate people trying to be friendly, but it sucks,” he complained.
