How is life in Dakar, the most expensive city in West Africa, with an average salary of 108 euros?

How are you supposed to live in the Senegalese capital on 71,000 CFA francs (about 108 euros), the average salary for informal workers, when life has never been so expensive? Consumer prices increased by 11% between September 2021 and September 2022 and food prices increased by 18% over the same period.

Access to property has become very complicated with land selling for 15 times what it was thirty years ago. 42% of Dakar residents are renters and pay an average of 64,502 CFA francs per month (just under 100 euros) for their accommodation.
