Thandiwe Newton is reportedly set to go to a rehab

Thandiwe Newton is reportedly set to go to a rehab facility, separated from her husband, after exiting Magic Mike 3

Channing Tatum’s Magic Mike 3, described by the actor as the “Super Bowl of strippers,” is currently in production. However, the long-awaited Tatum-led sequel recently experienced a casting shock after Thandiwe Newton dropped out of the process. At Warner Bros.’ An official statement said it was due to “family reasons,” while sources also initially claimed her exit was due to a dust cloud with Tatum. Now it appears that following this situation and her split from her husband, Newton is reportedly heading into rehab.

It is alleged that Thandiwe Newton exhibited unusual behavior during her time on the set of Magic Mike’s Last Dance. According to Page Six, after crew members expressed concerns about her, Newton’s agent arrived on set in London to defuse the situation. However, the star eventually left the project and made her way back to the US, where she is said to be wanting treatment. Sources say the star’s split from her husband, 24-year-old Ol Parker, and other personal issues appear to have impacted her work on the upcoming film:

Thandiwe had been acting strange on the set, she was very tense. Her apparent breakdown caused so much disruption that it became clear she couldn’t play the role. There is a lot going on in her private life, she and her husband broke up. She seemed so stressed that she even brought her two pet rabbits to her hotel for emotional support.

The alleged row that originally caused Thandiwe Newton’s exit from the latest Magic Mike film is said to have been over Will Smith’s Oscar slap. It was said that she and Channing Tatum “argued” about the situation, with Tatum allegedly disappearing from the set after a particularly “tense” exchange. However, Newton’s rep later denied those claims, stating that the actress considered the report “completely inaccurate.”

Page Six’s sources also state that the Westworld star has recently made changes to her management team as she reportedly fired her UK agent who had been with her for 30 years. It has been said that at this moment her sales reps want to make sure she gets the support she needs:

Thandiwe’s team wants her to go into rehab for mental health support. She was supposed to go to a facility immediately, they tried rehab in Malibu but they couldn’t take her. Arrangements are now being made to go to a facility in Arizona if she is ok with it.

After the All the Old Knives star left the stripper flick, her role was quickly filled by Salma Hayek. The film’s plot, including details of Hayek’s role, is still under wraps at this time. There are still many questions surrounding the project (which those with HBO Max subscriptions will be), including whether or not Matthew Matthew McConaughey will return. One thing that seems obvious, however, is that the dancing will be intense.

In the case of Thandiwe Newton, it remains to be seen whether she will actually be admitted to a treatment center. It is hoped that the actress will find the best way forward in any situation during this time.
