Report on chemical weapons findings after Russia’s withdrawal

The remains of chemical weapons – sarin and other substances – were reportedly found in the village of Bilka, in the Sumy region of northern Ukraine, after the Russian military evacuated the settlement. Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform reported today, citing the mayor of the city of Trostianets, Yuriy Bova.

Bowa said live on Ukrainian radio: “We found remains of chemical weapons, sarin and other substances in the village of Bilka. We discovered vials. The Ukrainian Security Service is currently working on it. It is possible that the occupiers wanted to use this chemical to attack Kiev, Poltava or other cities”.

The secretariat of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons has expressed concern over reports of chemical weapons use in Mariupol and the bombing of chemical factories in Ukraine, according to Ukrinform. Ukrainian information cannot be independently verified for the time being.
