Billie Eilish wants to rock the vote ahead of next Tuesday’s midterm elections.
On Friday, the 20-year-old singer released a video urging her fans to turn up for the polls. And while Eilish didn’t offer specific candidate recommendations, the California native made it clear where she stands on important issues like abortion rights.
“I want to explain why I’m voting this year and how important I think it is that you vote too,” the “Bad Guy” singer told fans in the video. “I look at what’s on the ballot and what’s at stake and it scares me.
“Our rights, our freedoms and our future are at stake, and if we don’t show up, there’s a good chance we’ll see a national abortion ban without exception,” she continued. “They also want to take away our freedom to marry who we love, restrict voting rights and enact legislation that threatens the progress that needs to be made on climate change. The only way to be sure of the future is to create it yourself, which is why we need to vote on or before November 8th.”
Eilish included a photo of herself with her family – including brother Finneas and his girlfriend Claudia Sulewski – as they cast their ballots. “It was so easy,” Finneas, who won an Oscar for Best Original Song alongside his sister earlier this year, commented on his own Instagram page.

Asking her followers to create their own voting schedules, Eilish signed off with an empowering note: “Let’s show them what our power looks like,” she said.
The pop star’s message comes just over a year since she blasted City Limits against Texas abortion laws during a performance at the Austin City Limits music festival last October.
“When they made that law, I almost didn’t want to do the show because I wanted to punish this damn place for allowing this,” she told the crowd. “But then I remembered that you guys are the fucking victims and you deserve everything in the world.”
Eilish defiantly raised her middle finger and exclaimed, “My body, my friggin’ choice!” during the show, which she also lashed out at climate change deniers.
“If you don’t believe there’s global warming, you’re a fucking loser,” said the Grammy winner.
