All season long, the Bills managed to largely overcome their penchant for turnovers. That was also the case in the first half of Sunday’s game against the Jets. After quarterback Josh Allen threw an interception on the Bills’ first drive, he masked the problem by rushing for two touchdowns as Buffalo went 14-10 at the break.
Allen’s second touchdown run — a 36-yard jump he went untouched after finding a gaping hole on the left side of his offensive line — gave the Bills a 14-3 lead with 6:30 by halftime. The Jets countered with their best drive of the half when Michael Carter’s 6-yard touchdown run capped a 13-play, 75-yard drive. New York’s offense was fueled in the first half by rookie wideout Garrett Wilson, who caught six passes for 65 yards, including a 24-yard catch on the Jets’ final drive in the half.
Allen threw for 163 yards and led both teams with 61 yards rushing in the first half. As usual, Allen succeeded in getting the ball to Stefon Diggs, who caught five passes for 93 yards, including three key catches on the Bills’ second goal. Allen’s interception came on a pass intended for tight end Dawson Knox deep in Jets territory. The pass was intercepted by Jordan Whitehead, who secured New York’s 13th forced turnover of the season. Conversely, the election was the Bills’ 13th turnover in the campaign.
