Marília Mendonça fortune will support her son until 2092 11/06/2022 Illustrated

Léo, son of singer Marília Mendonça with Murilo Huff, receives all profits from country music. The child, who will turn three in December, lost his mother in a plane crash a year ago.

Under the Copyright Act, the author’s property rights last 70 years from January 1 of the year following death before falling into the public domain. This means that the heir is entitled to the income from Mendonça’s songs until 2092, when he turns 73.

The singer has registered 336 compositions and 442 recordings with Ecad, the Central Office of Collection and Distribution. Last year she was the most listened Brazilian artist on Spotify.

After Mendonça’s death, Léo had joint custody between his father and grandmother Ruth Moreira. In a statement last year, the singer’s press office said the decision was very smooth and that no other option could be considered. The text also states that Moreira asks that “intrigue and disagreement not be created where none exist”.
