Twitter delays launch of paid ticks until after elections

Twitter updated its app on Saturday, charging $8 a month to use the coveted tick in a verification seal. Until now, the tick symbols, which guarantee the authenticity of the Twitter profile, were assigned free of charge.

It is the first major overhaul of the social media platform by new owner Elon Musk. After a month-long tug of war, the eccentric billionaire officially became the owner of the social media network, which cost him $44 billion a few days ago.

Return of former employees?

According to a media report, Twitter is asking some of the employees laid off on Friday to return to the short-messaging service. The US company is currently in contact with dozens of former employees to bring them back, Bloomberg news agency reported on Sunday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Some former employees who were supposed to return were unfairly fired. Others were fired before management realized that their work and experience might be needed for the platform’s future plans. No comments were initially available on Twitter.

Twitter laid off just half of its employees on Friday. US workers have already filed a class-action lawsuit against Twitter. Billionaire Elon Musk, considered eccentric, officially became the owner of the social network for a few days, which cost him $44 billion.
