Invest 98-L IS is developing in the southwest Atlantic on Sunday morning.

5 p.m. Update:
The fault we are observing is called Invest 98-L and is now 200 miles north of Puerto Rico.
It’s likely to become a tropical or subtropical storm east of the Bahamas in the next few days.
A turn towards Florida is to be expected by the middle of the week.
As we wait, the waves continue to build and the seas along our beaches become increasingly dangerous.

By Wednesday evening, the risk of significant coastal erosion and coastal flooding will increase, particularly at high tide.
The system may linger nearby Thursday through Friday with heavy rain and ongoing flooding hazards in central Florida.

Stormy winds develop along the coast, and inland winds depend on the strength and track of the system.
Invest 98-L is likely to become a name storm in the next few days.
