Republican candidates will accept US election results, party president says

In the midterm elections in the United States, the Republican candidates will accept the results regardless of victory or defeat, the party leader assured this Sunday (6). Donald Trump supporters are still contesting the result of the 2020 presidential election.

Ronna McDaniel also said she is confident in Republicans’ “good momentum” to regain control of the Senate and House in Tuesday’s vote, which would severely derail Democratic President Joe Biden’s agenda in the second half of his term.

For two years, Democrats had a slim majority in the lower house and a single majority in the upper house, held by Vice President Kamala Harris.

Republican candidates for both houses of Washington and for state and local office “want to make sure the race is fair and transparent, let the process happen and then we’re going to accept the results,” McDaniel told CNN.

Former President Trump, who is yet to admit defeat to Biden two years ago, has been toying with conspiracy theories in the runup to this election.

Hundreds of Republicans running for office on Nov. 8 have backed Trump’s baseless 2020 cheating allegations, and several also doubt the future outcome, contrary to McDaniel’s statements.

About 300 Republican candidates would be ready to contest the results of Tuesday night’s national and local elections, according to analysts and the Democratic camp.

Given the tense atmosphere, an Arizona judge recently placed limits on selfappointed poll watchers who appeared near polling stations with guns.

When asked about her party’s support for these people, McDaniel said “no one should intimidate voters” and urged observers “not to break the law.” However, he also pointed out that election observers should not be intimidated.

Polls are predicting a clear victory in the House of Representatives for the Republicans, who could also regain control of the Senate.
