Popular Block star Josh Packham slams Channel Nine’s “unfair” finale after two properties failed to sell while Omar and Oz won a record $1.6 million in prize money: “You got it wrong.”
Josh Packham has slammed The Block’s final auction result after two couples failed to sell their homes.
Sharing a video to Instagram, the reality TV star claimed Channel Nine “made a mistake” with its high reserve prices and the competition is becoming “unfair”.
“Walking away with nothing or next to nothing after giving up your life for three months and working so hard…I couldn’t imagine it,” Josh said.

“Big, big condolences to these three couples. Obviously, Nine was wrong. They were looking for excessive reserves in this current market. They should have known it was too high at Gisborne for what it is,” he continued.
“If you’re going to spend that much, you at least want privacy, you don’t want to see other houses, so they got that wrong too.”
Josh went on to say that the contest “isn’t fair anymore” because it’s about designing a home for buyer Danny Wallis.
“He’s very important to the show: he bought three properties our season and if he hadn’t bid on them they could have gone a lot closer to the reserve so he’s done our season a huge favor.”

“But it’s kind of becoming an unfair competition now because there’s a recipe – it’s very obvious if you want to win The Block you need Danny Wallis bidding on your house and you need a very strong underbidder.”
“If Danny Wallis wants your house, he will definitely keep bidding: if necessary, he will go up to six, seven, eight million, I guarantee you that.”
Josh also questioned why millionaire Adrian Portelli, who had jacked up the price for winning friends Omar and Oz’s record-breaking estate, hadn’t bid on the other houses.
“He bid $5.5 million for this house and then left. He could have bought any of the four homes for $4.2 million, so a massive question mark as to why,” he said.

But there was also heartache when two couples, Ankur and Sharon and Dylan and Jenny, failed to sell their homes at auction.
Their properties were passed on when they failed to attract a bidder above their reserve price of $4.08 million – with both posting a high bid of $4,075,000.
