Black Adam still owns the box office while we wait forever for Wakanda Forever – The AV Club

Hey, do you remember the movies? Sitting in a big dark room eating popcorn while a big famous person is projected on a screen in front of you? Chances are if you’re in the US you don’t remember movies because not many people went to the movies that weekend. We don’t blame anyone as there is only one new and notable movie in theaters this weekend and everyone is probably waiting for Wakanda Forever, but don’t be super shocked if this list looks chillingly similar to last week’s list.

On that note, Black Adam is at the top for the third straight week, but he’s down 30 percent from last week and only made $18 million ($137 million total). After that comes the aforementioned new and remarkable film: One Piece Film: Red, the latest adventure about Monkey D. Luffy and the other Straw Hat Pirates. It grossed $9 million on its debut. (And if you’re unfamiliar with One Piece, the good news is that you only have to catch up on a little over 100 volumes of the manga.)

The rest of the list will be titles familiar to fans of this list, with Ticket To Paradise dropping to third place (the only one to drop just 13 percent and gross $8.5 million), regular fourth-place finisher Smile, which fell at 4 million dollars, Prey, fourth was Fur The Devil, who dropped to fifth with $3.8 million, and Lyle, Lyle Crocodile, who jumped 22 percent and $3.3 million to fifth sixth place. Martin McDonagh’s The Banshees Of Inisherin surged 274 percent in its third week and expanded to almost 900 theaters (up from less than 100 last week), but that only grossed $2 million
