After Twitter Inc laid off about half of its employees on Friday following its $44 billion acquisition of Elon Musk, the company is now reaching out to dozens of employees who have lost their jobs, asking them to return, Bloomberg News reported On Sunday.

Some of those asked to return were inadvertently fired. Others were fired before management realized their work and experience may be necessary to develop the new features Elon Musk envisions, the report said, citing people familiar with the moves.

Twitter recently laid off 50% of its employees, including those on its trust and security teams, the company’s head of security and integrity, Yoel Roth, said in a tweet earlier this week.

Tweets from employees at the social media company said teams responsible for communications, content curation, human rights and machine learning ethics were gutted, as were some product and development teams.

Twitter updated its app on Apple’s App Store on Saturday to charge $8 for coveted blue badges in Elon Musk’s first major overhaul of the social media platform.

Twitter did not immediately respond to Portal’ request for comment.
