Spain: Four dead in a degenerating marriage

Four people were killed and four others seriously injured when a vehicle drove into attendees at a wedding after a dispute, Spanish authorities said on Sunday, adding that three suspects had been arrested.

The fight broke out at dawn on Sunday outside a restaurant in Torrejon de Ardoz, 25km north-east of Madrid, where a gypsy family’s wedding was taking place.

A vehicle then “voluntarily” hit people and “the occupants fled,” said a spokesman for the state police of the AFP news agency.

“When we got to the scene, we found four dead with multiple fractures,” Carlos Polo, head of Madrid’s emergency services, told reporters.

“We treated four seriously injured people who had head injuries and lower limb fractures,” who were transferred to hospitals in the region, added Carlos Polo.

The suspicious vehicle was located by the police in Seseña, a town 50 km from the scene of the incident, and its “three occupants arrested”, said the police spokesman.

According to the Spanish press, it is said to be a father and his two children.

Investigators are also looking for a fourth person who may have been involved in the violence.
