The Block: Tree Change’s Omar Slaimankhel and Ozman “Oz” Abu Malik have revealed how they intend to spend some of their prize money after becoming “instant millionaires” on the show.
The Sydney best friends made the largest sum over the reserve of any five houses, selling their property for $5,666,666 and taking home a record profit of $1.6 million.
Speaking to Chron Australia on Monday, Oz, 30, revealed the couple will be donating some of the money to charity.
The Block: Tree Change’s Omar Slaimankhel and Ozman ‘Oz’ Abu Malik, both 30, have revealed how they intend to spend their prize money after winning the show
“Omar and I, we are two brothers who would like to continue what they do best, we would like to give something back,” he explained.
“We’ve obviously put a lot of hard work into charity, we have [donated] our whole lives in charity and this time we want to give something back to the children.’
Though Oz didn’t reveal exactly how much they’ll be donating, he said his family has already chosen a charity back home.
Speaking to Chron Australia on Monday, Oz, 30, (pictured right) said the couple plans to donate a percentage of their $1.6 million prize money to charity
“We definitely want to make it clear that we want to give back to people who are less fortunate,” he said.
Oz explained that while he was happy with their win, they couldn’t help but feel for their co-stars who didn’t sell their homes.
“Money comes, money goes in life. For me, it’s all about people knowing that we did our best and represented it.”

The West Sydney partners generated the largest total of any five block homes, far exceeding the $4.08 million reserve.
But many weren’t impressed by Omar and Oz’s victory after Adrian Portelli — an online advertising guru with a net worth of $8 million who came to the auction in a flashy yellow Lamborghini — seemed to know Omar and Oz well and had bid on her house .
Portelli opened bid for House 5 at $4.5 million, which was much higher than the $4.08 million reserve price.
His aggressive bidding meant eventual buyer Danny Wallis ended up paying a staggering $5,666,666.66 for the 10-acre, four-bedroom estate, making the boys instant millionaires with a total profit of $1,686,666.66 – the biggest win in The Block’s 18-year history.
Second place at the auction went to Rachel and Ryan Carr, who negotiated to sell their home for $4,250,000 – and made a profit of $169,000.
Fan favorites Tom and Sarah-Jane came in third place but didn’t bring in big money.
There was also heartbreak when two couples, Ankur and Sharon and Dylan and Jenny, failed to sell their homes at auction.
Both properties surrendered when they failed to attract a bidder above their reserve price of $4.08 million, with both generating a high bid of $4,075,000.
Both couples continued to negotiate with their winning bidders after filming, but as of 9pm on Sunday November 6, Ankur and Sharon and Dylan and Jenny are still open to offers to buy their homes.
