Buenos Aires, November 7th (Prensa Latina) The XV. Regional Conference for Women in Latin America and the Caribbean begins today in Argentina with a parliamentary forum that will analyze experiences in building regulatory frameworks for the implementation of gender equality policies.
In addition, among other things, the development of an agenda to guarantee the right to comprehensive pension systems and the implementation of measures for social responsibility and the recognition of paid housework will be discussed.
The event also has the purpose of making visible legislative initiatives to promote justice and sustainable development.
She also intends to promote dialogue and develop a program to promote reforms that guarantee the autonomy and full exercise of women’s rights in Latin America.
The XV Conference will officially open tomorrow with the presence of Argentine President Alberto Fernández and the intervention of Chilean Gabriel Boric through digital platforms.
The meeting is convened by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the United Nations (UN) Organization for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women.
The Executive Secretary of ECLAC, José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs; Argentina’s Sector Minister Ayelén Mazzina; her Chilean counterpart Antonia Orellana; and, among others, Deputy UN Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed.
The event will be attended by representatives of governments, organizations, academics and members of civil society, particularly feminist movements.
Its main theme is The Care Society: Horizon for a Sustainable Recovery with Equality and at least 31 parallel activities are planned.
On Thursday 10th, Funding for Care Systems and Policies and Breaking the Statistical Silence will be presented.
In addition, a high-level debate, two thematic panel discussions and a round table on shared responsibility in care are planned.
