The Styrian, who started the final round in seventh place, played a mediocre round of 70 on Sunday and arrived at the club in 21st place with a total of 270 strokes (14 under par). Four bogeys in the “back nine” prevented the 27-year-old from putting up better. Russell Henley (USA/261) secured the victory.
Schwab completed the second and third rounds without bogey and thus justified his hopes of a superior result. After two birdies on the “front nine” this seemed within our grasp. But on holes ten through twelve and then hole 15, Rohrmooser missed four strokes. Three more birdies prevented an even bigger relapse. Due to his weakest lap of the four days in Mexico, Schwab lost 14 places. The shared 21st place brought him the equivalent of around 84,000 euros in prize money.
