Whose Line Is It Whatever was created by Mark Leveson and Dan Patterson, which started out as a British radio show before being adapted into a British TV series in 1988.

The original show was hosted by Clive Anderson, who hired a rotating crew of comedians to perform a series of impromptu skits.

The original cast consisted of Tony Slattery, Michael McShane, Josie Lawrence and Richard Vranch, with Stiles and Greg Proops joining the show in 1989 and Mochrie joining in 1991.
