On the fringes of the COP27 negotiations, Meloni had a bilateral meeting earlier this morning with Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed, Israeli President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Rishi Sunak.

According to a statement by the Council Presidency, the exchange with Isaac Herzog focused on the excellent bilateral cooperation and the energy transition. Meloni says it is ready to work with the future new Israeli government to further strengthen the Italian-Israeli industrial and technological partnership, particularly in the area of ​​clean technologies for the environment. During the interview, a strong consensus was shared on defending common values, starting with the fight against anti-Semitism.

The bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak, was very cordial. During the interview, Palazzo Chigi shares, Meloni and Sunak discussed the main challenges facing the international community, most notably the need for a unified response to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, and stressed the importance of cooperation between Italy and the UK in the G7 and NATO sectors. Together, Italy and the UK will be able to strengthen the transatlantic link. Meloni and Sunak also reiterated their willingness to work together to further develop bilateral relations between Rome and London.

At 12:30 p.m., Meloni will participate in the Just Transition round table, while at around 5 p.m. he will speak during the plenary session. In the evening the Prime Minister will leave for Rome.
