Should we be happy about the good weather?

We are in the middle of autumn and the temperatures are very mild. On the weekends in Montreal you could go outside in short sleeves. The good life !

Saturday I spent the evening on a terrace. I really felt like it was a beautiful August evening. Still, my sips of sangria went a bit wrong.

I spent a lot of time in the park this week. It was so beautiful, people looked happy. However, a wind of uneasiness seemed to be blowing.

Last weekend I had a barbecue with my friends. However, it’s like my grilled meat has a slightly bitter taste.

I haven’t been able to take full advantage of the nice warm sunny days we’ve been having lately. It is impossible for me to forget my concerns about the climate and the future of humanity on this planet.

And you, can you take full advantage of the good weather?

The reality ahead

According to meteorological data, the month of November has never been so hot in the province. In addition, several regions in Quebec broke their record for the hottest day in November last Saturday.

If this unusual heat continues, the consequences could be severe, for example for certain crops.

“The past eight years are on track to become the eighth hottest years on record, driven by steadily increasing greenhouse gas concentrations and accumulated heat,” says the latest edition of the World Meteorological Organization report.

Even if the sun has been shining brightly in the last few days, I hope that we won’t let ourselves be blinded.

Whether or not this heat in the province is the result of climate change, I just hope the good weather doesn’t make us forget that we must make every effort to ensure we maintain a drinkable climate for generations to come.
