About a week after learning that she had won the $100,000 Ultimate Cash jackpot, a Newark woman in her 70s, who preferred to remain anonymous, went to the lottery’s headquarters to collect her $100,000 prize. It was the biggest prize the old lady had won since she started playing seven years ago, the Delaware Lottery said.

On the way home, she decided to try her luck one more time and bought three “Serious Money” tickets at a grocery store.

One of those three tickets netted him an additional $300,000 for a total of $400,000.

“My best friend was the first person I told about the $100,000 and she came with me to claim it,” said the two-time winner. When I scraped the $300,000 ticket later that day, we just sat in disbelief.”

So the woman returned to the lottery’s headquarters to collect her $300,000 prize, which she plans to save for her retirement.

The odds of winning the $100,000 jackpot were 1 in 120,000 compared to 1 in 150,000 for the $150,000 jackpot. Therefore, by purchasing a single ticket for each of the lotteries, the odds of winning both jackpots are 1 in 18 billion.
