A music company claimed that KGF-2 committed copyright infringement during the Congress Bharat Jodo Yatra

A court in Bengaluru has ordered the temporary suspension of Congress’ Twitter handle after a music company filed a copyright lawsuit against the party for playing a song from the film KGF-2 at the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Congressman Rahul Gandhi .
M. Naveen Kumar, the MRT music manager, filed the complaint against three congress leaders, including Mr Gandhi, for allegedly using music from the super hit Canada film KGF-2, which violated copyright laws, during the Bharat Jodo (unite India) Yatra, which crossed Karnataka last month before moving to neighboring Telangana.
The court also ordered the temporary suspension of the Bharat Jodo Yatra campaign Twitter handle.
The music company manager claimed that Bharat Jodo Yatra’s campaign videos contained songs by KGF-2.
Congress tweeted that it was unaware of the court proceeding and did not have a copy of the order. “We read on social media about a prejudicial order from a court in Bengaluru against INC and BJY SM handles. We were not made aware of this, nor were we present at court proceedings. No copy of the order has been received. We are pursuing all legal remedies at our disposal,” the Congress party tweeted, referring to the social media name of Bharat Jodo Yatra, or BJY.

In its ruling, the court said the music company had shown a CD comparing the original copyrighted version with the illegally dubbed version.
The court said the available material showed the music company “would cause irreparable harm” and such actions could encourage piracy.
In a First Information Report (FIR) filed with the police in Bengaluru’s Yashwanthpur, the music company said Congress leader Jairam Ramesh tweeted two Yatra videos using popular songs by KGF-2 without permission.
The Bharat Jodo Yatra so far includes six states, namely Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Maharashtra.
