Harry Styles performs at Coachella and surprises the fan with a cameo by Shania Twain
After a two-year absence, Coachella has made a much-anticipated return.
Located in Indio, California, the desert festival has grown in popularity over the years due to its glitzy, Instagram-worthy dress code and sightings of key celebrity guests.
The festival leads the way when it comes to innovative line-ups. Two of the top artists (Harry Styles and Billie Eilish) are under 30, while further down the carefully curated list you’ll find some of the hottest new acts – Koffee, Amyl and the Sniffers, Rina Sawayama – mingling with old school notebooks like Spiritualized and The Avalanches.

Part of Kevin EG Perry’s Billie Eilish review, which will be shared here once live, reflects on the singer-songwriter’s first Coachella outing when she was just 17 years old.
“It was a set marred by technical glitches: she got on stage over half an hour late, forgot a few words to ‘All the Good Girls Go to Hell’ and, worst of all, brought in special guest Vince Staples for ‘&Burn’ out,” only for his mic to completely fail and leave him rapping in silence.
“Nevertheless, she also had fond memories of that weekend. Eventually, Eilish met her teen idol Justin Bieber backstage here in Indio. In footage shot for RJ Cutler’s 2021 documentary Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry, the two meet and hug for the first time.
“Eilish had grown up adoring the Canadian singer, eight years her senior, and that moment marked something of an emotional Rubicon crossing for Eilish as she was literally welcomed into the world of pop superstardom by the icon she had idolized. “

Damon Albarn’s cameo appearance during the set of Billie Eilish also sparked confused reactions from some fans, with many taking to Twitter to say they weren’t sure who he was.
Albarn (whose core demographic, it must be said, predates Eilish’s by a fair bit) has been mistaken for Eilish’s father and Elton John.
I’m not sure he’ll necessarily be too flattered by that.
