Ukraine-Russia: Kyiv mayor warns residents who fled not to return amid renewed Russian attack

More than 900 civilians were found dead in towns around Kyiv as Ukrainian forces continue to retake areas previously occupied by the Russian military.

Smoke billowed over Kyiv on Saturday after the latest Russian rocket salvo that killed one and injured several.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has warned residents who fled the city not to return amid these fresh attacks.

“We are not ruling out further strikes in the capital,” said Klitschko. “If you have the opportunity to stay a little longer in the cities where it’s safer, do it.”

As Russia targets the Odessa seaport, “we should stop underestimating the Ukrainians,” General Keane said

Ukraine’s military has defied all expectations in its fight against the Russian invasion despite the Kremlin’s goal of essentially sealing off the country from land, retired General Jack Keane told Fox News.

In an interview that will air Sunday on Life, Liberty & Levin, Keane, a senior strategic analyst at Fox News and chairman of the Institute for the Study of War, told host Mark Levin that Vladimir Putin’s military was in some ways… telegraphed similar tactics it used when it first invaded Ukraine from the north, attempting to seal off its southern sea region.

Many of the military vehicles approaching the important port of Odessa and other regional cities are wheeled rather than tracked like tanks.

Russia’s security service is demanding more money for soldiers’ funerals

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has reportedly asked for more money to cover the cost of troop burials.

Radio Free Europe reported that the service asked for a 17% increase in funding in a document released on a government website. That would result in an increase of about $700 to $900 per soldier, depending on rank.

The exact number of Russian troop losses has not been confirmed, but officials in Western countries believe casualties are high.

The Ukrainian military has claimed up to 19,500 Russian soldiers were killed.
