4.6 million checks found finder reward leaves speechless world

You don’t find a check for 4.6 million euros every day. This just happened to a man from Frankfurt. The finder’s reward also leaves you speechless.

It’s a story that doesn’t happen every day. On his way to his mother’s house, Anouar G. accidentally finds a check in the street for the unbelievable amount of 4,631,538.80 euros. As “Bild” reports, this was issued by the Rewe supermarket group for Haribo. But the gummy bear maker’s bounty doesn’t make the 38-year-old very happy.

Gummy bears as a thank you

The Frankfurt man dutifully contacted Haribo and contacted the billionaire family business via email. It turned out that the check was just a crossed check. The supposed sum of a million is no more than a sheet of used paper.

As a thank you from the confectionery manufacturer, G. received a few days later: A box with six packages of Haribo products. The astonished discoverer: “I found it a little cheap.”

Haribo confirmed the discovery to the newspaper “Bild” and explained: “As it was a crossed check, no one, except our company, could redeem it”. However, the “standard package we sent as a thank you” didn’t exactly make G. happy, as he thought he had saved Haribo a loss of millions.
