Sophie Ellis-Bextor recalls her famous ‘home discos’ during lockdown: ‘It was such an abstract notion’
Sophie Ellis Bextor, 43, has fondly recalled the famous “home discos” she performed at the height of the pandemic.
The British pop star, who rose to fame with the megahit Murder on the Dancefloor, told the Herald Sun that her no-frills performances have found her a legion of new fans.
“It was such an abstract notion, on the one hand, so many people from all over the world would come into our kitchen every Friday, but on the other hand, we couldn’t see anyone,” she told the publication.

The mother-of-five added: “The community that has grown out of this has meant so much to us. Life has just gotten back to normal, but for Richard and I it was very special.”
Sophie is back in Australia for the first time in seven years and performed at the National Gallery Victoria last week.
She will soon be performing in the special concert series ‘Rises in the East’ on Channel 7’s Sunrise as part of the Summer Camp Festival.
