“It will be a day of ‘consolation’, we will provide awareness activities, coffee, pastries to all people coming to college. We want to take care of our world,” Marilyn Doucet, associate director of communications at Collège Montmorency in Laval, told the Journal.
A shooting broke out in a park near the school on Friday night.
Four people were injured in the incident.
Even if the worst were averted, the day was a nightmare for the locked-up students, whose Le Journal mostly collected testimonies after the events.

support for everyone
On Sunday, earlier in the day, the Montmorency College Teachers Union had called for classes to be suspended.
When this happens, however, the college leadership invites its members to come to the facility to share what happened.
“We want to make sure we set everything up so that people feel comfortable and that they feel supported in what they are going through. It’s a lot of emotion, so it was a natural decision for us to lift the tuition,” Ms. Doucet added.
In addition, the psychosocial help that has been available since Friday evening for people who feel in need should remain in place for the next few weeks.
“It’s something that will endure over time. We know that this type of situation is not dealt with in 24 hours, so the teams are mobilized to support our world,” assured Ms. Doucet.
Classes will continue as usual on Tuesday.
