This Monday, the Caribbean will have a doubles game, first against the Dominican Republic and then against Nicaragua, all of whom are in Group B along with Canada, Peru and Guatemala.

Last Saturday, the ninth had to face the island of Nicaragua, but the meeting was suspended due to a delay in the arrival of the pinoleras here.

The tenth edition of the event offers five tickets to the 2023 World Cup and the same amount to the Central Caribbean and Pan-American events in San Salvador and Santiago de Chile respectively, hence the existing rivalry and high level of competition.

In the case of Cuba, the all-or-nothing fair will test the players’ skills overall, as 10 of them have gained experience in international leagues this season, five in Colombia, three in the A1 series in Italy and two in this Central American nation.

Seven other countries’ teams are in Group A: Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Puerto Rico, the United States and Venezuela.

The host nation’s team has been competing under the World Baseball Softball Confederation banner for official sanctioning of the local Olympic Committee since October 15.

The last tournament was held in Santo Domingo in 2017 from August 4th to 13th, in which 18 countries divided into four keys took part.

Then the top six positions were filled by the United States, Mexico, Canada, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, and Cuba, in that order. jf/mmc
