Following the appointment of Kim Ng as general manager, the Miami Marlins helped break down a glass ceiling even further by appointing Caroline O’Connor as their president of business operations on Monday.

O’Connor will be in his sixth season with the Florida organization in 2023. In her new role, she will specifically oversee business operations, sales, partnerships, human resources, finance, communications and special projects.
“I’ve always worked for world-class organizations and that’s certainly why [président et propriétaire principal] Bruce [Sherman] want to see here; that’s really the mandate,” O’Connor said, according to the Marlins’ official website.
“I think it’s huge,” she said of her progress with the team and what it means for women. I think we are a very special organization. Bruce gives us a lot of confidence, he really looks at who can do the job on merit. I’m really excited about this. I think it makes our organization unique and different and shows what women can do and what roles they can take on.”
The Marlins have only made the playoffs once since winning the World Series in 2003.
