A rather unusual incident happened a few days ago at Alicante airport…
There are many excuses for delays, but this time it was worth it.
It must be said that on the morning of April 12 at Alicante airport in Spain, a Ryanair flight bound for Manchester was delayed because a Renault Clio … hit the plane.
The airport service vehicle fitted right under the fuselage of the Boeing 737.
No injuries but upset
The plane was stationary and the passengers had not yet boarded when the car collided with the Boeing. Which is important because otherwise they would have had to come down and the flight delay would have been even longer.
But even more unusual was that the plane was empty, but so was the car.
In fact, the driver of the car apparently applied the handbrake incorrectly when parking his vehicle.
The Clio then swerved and headed straight for the plane, Formula Passion reported.
Mandatory inspection
Even if, given the low speed of the impact, no damage other than aesthetic damage was noted to the cabin, a safety inspection is mandatory even in the event of a minor incident.
The aircraft was therefore cleared of the runway and had to be examined, resulting in a delay of more than an hour and a half. But the passengers arrived safely in Manchester with a good story to tell… or not.
