Jackie played the character Susan Kennedy for 28 years and felt it was “too raw” to explore other acting opportunities until she recovered from the end of the soap opera.
“You don’t end a 28-year relationship and then get back on the dating circuit, you give yourself time,” she explained.
“The day we finished, the heartache and sadness was with the 200 lost jobs, with the people who looked forward to that half hour of entertainment every day.”
“I hope we continue to do what we’ve done so well, which is try to tell relevant stories,” she said
Jackie is now looking forward to being back on set when filming begins on the revival in April.
“I hope we continue to do what we’ve done so well, which is try to tell relevant stories,” she said.
“We’re going to look through a lens at what’s current in the world and try to tell those stories.”
Jason Donovan returned to the finale alongside co-star Kylie Minogue and was equally shocked by the news.
