Four Syrian soldiers killed in Israeli attacks

Israeli attacks had already targeted Homs province on November 13, killing two soldiers.

Four Syrian soldiers were killed in Israeli attacks on Saturday, November 19, in central Syria, a military source quoted by official agency Sana said. This is the second series of strikes attributed to the Jewish state in less than a week. “Around 6:30 a.m. local time, the Israeli enemy carried out an airstrike” in central and along the coast of Syria, killing four soldiers and wounding one and causing property damage.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSDH) also spoke of Israeli attacks in the central provinces of Homs and Hama, in which weapons and ammunition were destroyed. According to this UK-based NGO, which has a wide network of sources in the country, they targeted websites linked to pro-Iranian groups. Israel also attacked an air force base in the coastal province of Latakia, the OSDH said.

According to Syrian state media, Israeli attacks had previously targeted Homs province, including the Al-Chaayrate air base, on November 13, killing two soldiers. Since civil war broke out in Syria in 2011, Israel has carried out hundreds of attacks against its northern neighbor, targeting both Syrian government forces and their Iranian-backed allies, or fighters from the Shia Hezbollah movement in Lebanon.

If Israel rarely comments on the attacks carried out in Syria, it has justified them on numerous occasions with the need to prevent Iran from settling near its borders.
