Joe Alwyn is aware that there’s a gap in details about his relationship with singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, and it likely will remain so — at least according to an interview with the “Conversations With Friends” star last week was published by Elle.
Alwyn told the mag that he was baffled by the public’s thirst for more tea about her personal life — though, to be fair to the Swifties, the “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” singer hinted at some juicy tidbits from her past relationships has in her famous breakup ballads.
“It’s not real [because I] wanting to be guarded and private, it’s more of a reaction to something else,” Alwyn said. “We live in a culture that is becoming increasingly pushy. … The more you give — and frankly, even if you don’t give — something is taken away from you.”

Swift seems equally committed to the couple’s interest in maintaining their privacy.
That may be because her relationship with Alwyn allows her to feel like a normal, non-famous person in love — as she explained to Paul McCartney during a 2020 interview for Rolling Stone.
“I think that by knowing him and being in the relationship that I’m in now, I’ve definitely made decisions that have made my life more like real life and less like a storyline for commentary,” she said .
She added, “Whether it’s deciding where to live, who to hang out with, when not to take a picture… it’s really just trying to find a little bit of normalcy.”
One reason Swift’s fans are so invested in her love life is her Carly Simon-esque tendency to pen incredibly intimate lyrics about past high-profile relationships. Although Swift plays coyly about which of her former lovers inspired each song, she makes strong suggestions, often to the delight (or anger) of her fans.
Regardless of Swift’s past, it’s nice to see the “Shake It Off” singer happy, in love, and holding tea tight in her cup with Alwyn.
