Internet provider Ebox suffered a major outage on Sunday

Internet provider Ebox suffered a “major outage” on Sunday.

Internet provider Ebox, which serves about 90,000 people in Quebec and Ontario, experienced a “major outage” on Sunday that affected several of its services. This was fixed in the afternoon.

Several customers have reported having trouble connecting to the internet in the morning. The company’s website and phone line were also briefly down.

Just before noon, netizens on social networks claimed to be able to access the internet again after being disconnected for about an hour.

NetBlocks, an organization that monitors web activity, tweeted minutes later that Ebox’s network appeared to be largely restored.

The company finally confirmed that the outage was resolved around 2:30 p.m.

More than 3,000 reports were made on the Downdetector website, a platform that lists internet outages, after 10:15 a.m. Sunday, mainly in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto.

Based in Longueuil, Ebox has approximately 90,000 customers in Quebec and Ontario. It was acquired by Bell in February.
