On the morning of April 16, 2022 Beijing time, astronauts Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping and Ye Guangfu from the Shenzhou-13 manned spacecraft completed their six-month mission to the space station and returned safely to Earth. The longest manned space flight to date has come to a successful end.
The 183-day space trip not only broke the record for length of stay in a single space mission for Chinese astronauts, but also conducted two spacewalks. It was also the first time the orbiting cargo spacecraft had completed its remote-controlled docking with the space station and was the first spacewalk by a Chinese female astronaut. The astronauts completed a series of space science experiments and technical tests, successively breaking China’s space records and laying a solid foundation for further space station construction. China’s space station construction is progressing on schedule and according to plan, and the Shenzhou-13 mission is an important link between the past and the future.
