Marion Maréchal, granddaughter of French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen, is vicepresident of Reconquete! Éric Zemmour’s party, which received about 7 percent of the votes in the first ballot. Maréchal wrote on Twitter: “Now I want to put all my energy into building and developing this young national movement full of future.”

Après avoir soutenu @ZemmourEric à l’election presidential, j’ai décidé d’adherer au mouvement @ Reconquete2022 et de my impliquer pleinement. J’ai donc le plaisir de vous annoncer, but nominated as vice chairman of the board. [1/2] ⤵️

The announcement definitely marks Marion Maréchal’s return to politics. The former National Front MP (Le Pen’s party is now called the Rassemblement National) decided in 2017 to retire from politics. But in March she publicly spoke out in favor of farright candidate Zemmour. Now, writes the French daily Le Figaro, his formal membership in Zemmour’s party is “not insignificant” and could also mean his candidacy in the next parliamentary elections.
