Potomacs’ Real Housewives Ashley Darby and husband Michael Darby are splitting up. Ashley confirmed the news in an exclusive statement to The Daily Dish on Tuesday (April 19).
“When Michael and I said ‘yes, I’ almost eight years ago, from that moment on we expected to share every single day with each other. Unfortunately, that is not our current reality. We have decided to separate. We recognize that there will be many speculative views as to why we made this decision. People will quickly assume that the causes were reality TV’s over-intrusion into the most personal parts of our lives, age differences, cultural issues, or differences in child-rearing. Bits of all of this may have affected our pure love for one another, but no single reason is the root cause of our collective decision to go our separate ways,” she said. “We are both at very different stages in our lives now and have different goals for our future. We both want the other to find true happiness and fulfillment and feel like we can’t do that together.”
Her statement continued, “While our romantic bond is broken, we will always love and respect each other. We also know that true happiness can only be achieved as we continue to work together and put our heart and soul into raising our two beautiful boys, Dean and Dylan. They will always feel loved and supported because they were truly created out of love. As this is a personal matter for us, we appreciate everyone who has been a part of our journey and ask for your continued support in respecting us as we navigate this emotional situation.”
Ashley and Michael were first introduced to fans in Season 1 of RHOP. In the years since viewers have watched their relationship unfold, they’ve been candid about the ups and downs along the way. Fans were also there as the couple added two sons, Dean Michael Darby, 2, and Dylan Matthew Darby, 1, to their family.
