The New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys face off in a key NFC East showdown on Thanksgiving Day. After that, they’ll do so again, off the field, as everyone will be meeting up with star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., according to NFL Media.
Beckham will visit the Cowboys on Monday, December 5th. According to Jay Glazer. As for the Giants, they are reportedly yet to set a date. According to CBS Sports NFL insider Josina AndersonOBJ will also meet with the Buffalo Bills while talks continue with the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens.
Beckham, 30, visited the Giants facility early last month to check on former teammate Sterling Shepard following Shepard’s ACL tear, but did not meet with anyone in management. This time the visit is scheduled, and what seemed like an unlikely reunion with the franchise that picked him 12th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft is now possible.
OBJ is in the final stages of recovery from knee surgery after tearing his left cruciate ligament again in the Rams’ Super Bowl LVI win in February. He appears to be in great shape and seems ready to give a rival team a shot in the arm for the stretch run, just like he did for Los Angeles last season when he was seemingly on course to be MVP in the Winning the Super Bowl before going down with the injury.
The Cowboys have made it clear that they are interested in wide receivers. Owner Jerry Jones loves collecting stars to wear the “star” on his helmet.
“He made the biggest catch I’ve ever seen, other than the one Dez[Bryant]made on the touchdown against Green Bay,” Jones told 105.3 The Fan in Dallas via Sports Illustrated last month. “The bottom line is that Odell is a player I admire a lot.”
Jones confirmed the report that Beckham and the Cowboys plan to meet soon.
“That’s my understanding as well,” Jones said on 103.5 The Fan on Sunday. via The Athletic.
Playing for the Cowboys is always tempting, but getting the chance to rewrite his career in New York must be tempting for Beckham, especially playing with his good friend Saquon Barkley again.
Barkley attended Beckham’s 30th birthday earlier this month. The Giants star running back has a different way of luring his former teammate.
“I saw Micah (Parsons) tweet something to him. … Why don’t you want him on your team,” Barkley said with a smile. via SNY TV. “There’s not really a sales pitch here. It’s New York. It’s the Giants. … I don’t have to tweet him. He knows how I feel. He knows how we feel in this dressing room.”
This should be a very interesting week for these NFC East rivals on and off the field.
