According to the note, the doctor’s general health had deteriorated a few weeks ago. He has been suffering from leukemia since last year and underwent a bone marrow transplant in July this year.

At the time of the transplant, Silvia wrote on a social network. “Today is a special day for our family. A gesture of love, generosity that can and will save the life of the father. We’re very hopeful and emotional,” she said, showing great optimism.

“Since the clinical treatment didn’t solve it, today he finally gets the precious and healthy stem cells donated by our daughter Ana for bone marrow transplantation,” the presenter added in the post.

The donor was Ana, 22, from her marriage to Silvia Poppovic. Marcello was in Albert Einstein’s hospital for almost two months at the time.

The SBEM note not only offered its condolences to the family, but also praised Bronstein’s qualities. “Marcello was a fundamental figure in the careers of thousands of endocrinologists, he supported and encouraged everyone around him, internationally recognized and distinguished,” said the organization, which ended with the support of Bronstein’s family members.

“Silvia, Ana and other family members receive the affection, comfort, hug and recognition of the Board of Directors of SBEM, the Editorial Board of the Archives of Endocrinology and Metabolism, and of all Brazilian Endocrinology for all the legacy left behind.”

Bronstein and Silvia began dating in 1990, moved in together in 1994 and married in 2007. Their only daughter, Ana, was born in 2000.
