Aaron Rodgers is at a crossroads in his NFL career. The league’s current MVP is reportedly unsure of where he wants to play in 2022 as he continues to consider leaving the Green Bay Packers organization at some point this offseason. If Rodgers decides to put Lambo Field in the rearview mirror, it looks like the quarterback is looking out for three touchdown points.
According to Pro Football Talk, Rodgers has specific deals with other teams and those clubs also have Packers-related compensation. Florio says the destinations are exclusively in the AFC, with the Broncos, Titans, and Steelers cited as viable options.
Denver has been one of the most popular landing spots for Rodgers had he left the Packers since last offseason when the opportunity first came up. Since then, the pair have only picked up steam, especially since the Broncos hired former Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett as their new head coach earlier this offseason.
The Pittsburgh Steelers, meanwhile, are in the quarterback market after the retirement of Ben Roethlisberger and boast a roster that is ready to immediately compete with a suitable quarterback. There was also a point last season when rumors that Rodgers could go to Pittsburgh went wild after the quarterback heaped praise on Steelers coach Mike Tomlin. As for Tennessee, they will need to figure out what to do with Ryan Tannehill, who owns $38.6 million in 2022 and $57.4 million, if they are going to acquire Rogers.
While this report from Florio suggests everything is set for the Packers to move quickly away from Rodgers should he ultimately decide to leave the team, general manager Brian Gutekunst said this week from the NFL Scouting Association that he is not heard from neither team as far as possible trade offers for Rogers.
CBS Sports NFL insider Jason La Canfora also reports that Green Bay management has done everything in its power to encourage Rodgers to stay and have a plan to keep Davante Adams and build around Rodgers. This came after Rodgers told The Pat McAfee Show last week that he was in a much better position with the team than he was at this point last season, which was widely interpreted to mean that Rodgers was leaning towards staying with Packers. However, this latest report from Florio is a reminder that the situation remains volatile and one league MVP after another may still be on the move in the near future.
