Michael Raymond-Ulrich Simmons of Cadillac was arrested Wednesday following an investigation by Michigan State Police after they received a tip from his father two years ago. WJHG reported.
Police officials said the father first contacted them in October 2020, when he told state troops that his son may have sent inappropriate photos of himself to the minor.
Simmons faces up to nine years in prison and a $4,000 fine if found guilty. It is not clear who the recipient of the images was, what they depict, or how Simmons’ father found them. The age of consent in Michigan is 16.

The Department’s Computer Crime Investigation Unit conducted lengthy interrogations and searches to analyze Simmons’ web activity, leading the Missoka County Attorney’s Office to authorize a warrant for his arrest on February 24.
A week later, Simmons was in police custody and detained at the Missoka County Jail before being released on bail.
Michigan State Police did not immediately respond to ‘s request for comment.
He is charged with assaulting a child for immoral purposes, intentionally distributing sexually explicit materials, and using a computer to commit a crime.
In Michigan, a charge of molesting a child for immoral purposes carries up to four years in prison, with a maximum fine of $4,000.
Deliberately distributing sexually explicit material carries a maximum penalty of one year, and using a computer to commit a crime carries up to four years in prison.
If convicted, Simmons would also have as a sex offender.
The next court session is scheduled for March 17.
